On The View a wedding planner stated that to save money all a bride had to do was buy some flowers at the local wall mart, bake her cake at home and use her I-Pod for all the music.

Six weeks later she retracted that statement in print and on the internet.  Why?  We as professional DJs are represented on the state and national level by several organizations.  Imagine her in box after these outlandish statements.

Sure, you can ipod your music.  Then again, you'll miss out on having a professional DJ being there to make those important and critcal announcements:  Introducing the Bride and Groom through the door, announcing the wedding party and special guests of the newly weds, conducting the champagne toasts from the best man and the maid/matron of honor, lining everyone up for the bouquet toss and the garter throw, calling daddy to the floor for the father daughter dance and mother to the floor for the son and mother dance.  Introducing the couple's first dance, conducting the anniversary dance, the dollar dance and a myriad of other special annoucements that can and do take place during the typical four hour wedding reception.  Don't forget also that the professional DJ can read the audience present and play the right mix of songs that will get your siblings, your parents and your grandparents on the floor and dancing for the first time in years.  When will you place the Cupid Shuffle, The Macarena, The Electric Slide, The Cha Cha Slide, YMCA, The Twist, Tequila, Soulja Boy, Jump On It, The Chicken Dance, The Cotton Eye Joe and all the other hot dance steps everyone else wants to hear BESIDES WHAT YOU HAVE PREPROGRAMMED ON YOUR IPOD?

I've spoken to three brides who WERE going to use their Ipod. 

They used my services instead.

Now, I did do a wedding reception for five hours at The Howard Johnson then it was time for me to leave.

Their 14 year old niece whipped out her ipod and cranked it up (through a portable speaker system).

I'm not sure what the music was, but the crowd left when I did. 

THE POINT IS THIS:  YOU DON'T LEAVE IT UP TO AMATEURS TO DO THE WEDDING CEREMONY, THE FLOWERS, THE CATERING, THE VENUE, THE PILOTS FLYING THE PLANE OR THE HONEYMOON.  PLEASE, DON'T SKIMP ON ENTERTAINMENT EITHER.  IT WILL COST YOU IN THE LONG RUN, I PROMISE YOU.  LET ME HANDLE IT FOR YOU.  YOU WILL BE HAPPIER.
