WHO AM I HIRING?
The man behind The Party Doc Wedding DJs is Russ Wristen, who has been providing entertainment services throughout  Texas since 1975. In the course of that time, "The Doc" himself has peformed in over 3,000 events, including a large majority of clubs, private parties, weddings, proms, holiday parties and more.  The ABILENE REPORTER NEWS did a Section C Entertainment Front Page story on RUSS WRISTEN:  CALL ON DOCTOR PARTY for your next event back in October of 2007.  And because of the popularity of the The Doc's services, he expanded his company in 2008, renamed it AAA PARTY DJs and reached out to all of Texas and Oklahoma for party locations.  Since then The Doc has traveled to Austin, Ft. Worth, Dallas, Longview, Odessa, Midland, San Angelo, El Paso, Galveston and Paris (Texas) for wedding receptions.  In 2010 The Doc has receptions scheduled in more Texas locales plus Oklahoma City, Lawton, Norman, Midwest City and three base weddings scheduled at Ft. Sill.  SO WHEREVER YOU NEED THE PARTY DOC WEDDING DJs, THEY CAN BE THERE.

WHAT DO WE RECEIVE FOR $500.00?

The Party Doc Wedding DJs specialize in Weddings and Receptions;  from the moment your first guest arrives until the bride and groom leave for the honeymoon afterwards, you won't have to worry about anything related to the entertainment of your friends, family and guests.  Imagine, actually getting to enjoy your reception because you know that every little detail is taken care of.  The Party Doc works well with The Photographer and/or wedding coordinator or he can direct the ceremonial events leading up to open dancing, keeping everything timely spaced so that your guests never become bored.  The Party Doc has over 35 years of experience, more than twice the experience of any other dj in this market.  The Party Doc is a former radio morning show host and station owner and has "the voice" that people will remember and appreciate during your event.    Following the booking of your wedding event, The Party Doc will contact your periodically during the weeks and months leading up to your glorious day and will also provide to you his personal home and cellular number so you can call him any time with changes, questions and requests.  As a dedicated entertainment specialist, The Party Doc strives to make each and every event a huge success.  In fact, many of the area's photographers and caterers would be happy to provide references about The Party Doc's professionalism and positive attitude.  Some of those references are listed at the end of this FAQ.

ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN CHARGES?

No, there are not.  The Doc quotes his price to you and that is the price you pay.  There are no other charges for set-up, break-down, overtime (unless agreed to in advance).

DO YOU PROVIDE YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT AND MUSIC?

Yes, we do.  The Doc provides everything to get the party started including the appropriate sound system for the estimated number of guests.  The Doc can provide sound from 50 people up to 1000 people.  Different equipment is used for the just right sound level.  Digital and Analog lighting effects, including par cans, laser lighting, scanners, pin spots and fixture lighting is also used to a varying degree, also depending on the number of people in attendance determined beforehand (your guest list).  And of course the music.  The Doc belongs to several professional music organizations which provides all of the latest hits in all categories, all clean edits with the hottest songs of the week available at The Doc's fingertips.  Special requests are always welcome.

WHAT TYPE OF PAYMENT IS EXPECTED, IS THERE A DEPOSIT, WHEN IS THE PAYMENT MADE, IS A CONTRACT INVOLVED AND DO YOU TAKE CREDIT CARDS OR CHECKS?

The Party Doc Wedding DJs first preference for payment is cash, especially if the reception or party is out of the Abilene area.  However, we will accept accepts checks and money orders.  No credit cards at this time because our volume just isn't that large to justify the fees credit cards are charging now.  Following your initial interview on the phone with The Doc, he will then determine whether or not a deposit is required.  In most case,  none is expected which is unique in this industry.  The Doc accepts you at your word when you book a future date, realizing that between now and then you will have many more expenditures.  One less at this point might mean something more you will be able to incorporate into your event.  Also, sometimes, cancellations occur.  The Doc feels that you should not be out any monies if you decide to cancel your date with him.  Since The Doc provides entertainment every night of the week, a Friday or Saturday off is a welcome change.  As for payment, payment is due at the beginning of the event.  If you would feel better with a written contract, The Doc has one.  However, The Doc does expect a deposit when a written contract is used, usually 25% of the agreed price, non-refundable.  The choice is yours.

CAN I GET KARAOKE AND IS THAT EXTRA?

Yes, you can mix Karaoke and DJ at no additional charge, providing the event is in the same room using the same equipment.  Many times Karaoke can add excitement to your party.  Usually there is always someone who wants to showcase their talent.  If they are your friends, give them the opportunity to express themselves musically.  The Doc usually will reserve Karaoke until the second hour of the party, then accept songs from just a few singers.  After three or four have performed their selections, The Doc will continue with the dance.  Then, a half hour later, he will repeat the formula.  Sometimes people may want to split the party into separate rooms, dancing in one room, Karaoke in another.  For this expect to pay 50% more of your cost for an additional room of entertainment.  If your party price is $500.00 but you want two separate rooms of entertainment, the second room (which will include all the same equipment as the first) will cost you an additional $250.00.  Your total bill would be $750.00.  This is because Karaoke requires the use of another PARTY DOC DJs music specialist.  This is great for school events, proms and large weddings.

HOW MANY SONGS DO YOU HAVE?

Currently The Party Doc Wedding DJs have over 10,000 dj hits spanning the decades from 1940 to the present.  Plus another 10,000 of the most requested Karaoke hits.  The Doc uses only LEGAL Karoake discs, no burned material unless it is a custom disc produced from a manufacturer like Top Tunes or Sound Choice.  The Doc does NOT download any music from the internet and does not allow recording of performed material during any of his shows.  For more information about Piracy and the penalties for distribution of copyrighted material, refer to Sound Choice Music and KAPA:  The Karaoke Anti Piracy Agency at www.soundchoice.com.

WHY HIRE YOU?  THE OTHER DJS ARE MORE EXPENSIVE.  DOESN'T THAT MEAN THEY ARE BETTER?

Some might say The Doc is expensive compared to one or two who charge a couple of hundred dollars less.  Then again, some say The Doc should raise his rates to be more in line with other DJs in town who charge 1500.00 to 3000.00 for a four hour wedding reception and about the same for other parties.  The fact is, The Doc has been there, done that.  He is a father of two boys, both who are also involved in the music industry, has hired wedding professionals in the past,  saved and paid for everything and knows that you will do the same.  But, if The Doc can save you money for your entertainment and at the same time guarantee that you will not receive less than what other guys charge more for, that's what makes The Doc happy.  What could be simpler?  Published rates on this site, references for people who have worked with The Doc, no hassle booking, no lengthy contracts, no deposits in most cases.  Why would you want to hire anyone else?  Do this:  Budget $3000.00 for the dj.  Hire The Doc.  Then spend the additional savings, let's say 2500.00, on your honeymoon.  Sound Good?  Because The Doc plays almost nightly throughout the week, he can pass his savings on to you.  Will your 2000.00 DJ be better than The Doc?  That's for your to decide.  But The Doc consistently out sells his competition every year and save's his clients hundreds and thousands of dollars and no one has complained yet!

CAN I PROVIDE MY OWN MUSIC ON DISC OR IPOD?

The Party Doc Wedding DJs will happily play any form of music you might want incorporated into your event.  While The Doc is a close adherent to the laws concerning copyright possession and distribution, he will allow a minimum number of songs from your burned collection to be played during your event, as long as it is now Karaoke.    As for Ipod use, be sure to bring along a mini to rca patch cord to mate with The Doc's equipment.

WHAT DO OTHER WEDDING PROFESSIONALS THINK ABOUT YOUR WEDDING AND PARTY SERVICES?

The best measure of any dj is with whom he has worked with during a private party.  Here are links to several photographers who have observed The Doc's performance (and the performance of other djs) during party events.

All of these fine photographers have worked with The Doc in the past, among others whose website addresses are unknown at this time.  Just ask them:  "You've worked with The Party Doc in the past, what is your opinion of him?"

DO YOU HAVE A SONG LIST?

Yes, The Party Doc has over 10,000 music titles you can choose from and will happily provide you a list of the more popular Couples First Dance songs, Mother and Father Dances, Group song suggetions and more.  And you can go on line to find many songs, too.  We work hand in hand with WEDJ.COM and they have several music lists to look through.  And you will find songs in the NEWS section of this web site.

If you have further questions, please email them to The Doc at his personal email address on the web,  ris10@aol.com.  Or call him directly at 325-793-9484 or toll free 877-790-9484.
